Employment Type: Full-time, 12-months, Exempt (salaried), Benefits-Eligible  

JOB SUMMARY:  The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Dean of Financial Aid to manage the College’s student financial aid programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Counsel current students and parents regarding financial aid options
  • Consult with and make recommendations to Dean regarding dependency overrides and professional judgment cases
  • Reviewer for Return of Title IV Funds Calculations
  • Assist with presentations in conjunction with Admission Office visitation days as well as financial aid nights
  • Participate in Minnesota Association of Financial Aid Administrators (MAFAA)
  • Attend professional conferences and training
  • Assist with awarding of student’s at Dean’s request
  • VA liaison for students and School Certifying Official for the VA
  • Processing of alternative loans including origination/certification
  • Lead the reclassification of donor-based scholarships
  • Review over-awards and over-need reports and make adjustments to student aid offers
  • All other duties as assigned

Prerequisites

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Demonstrated strengths in the areas of attention to detail, organization, interpersonal communication (verbal and written), and the ability to work as part of a larger office and team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

  • College financial aid administrative experience and understanding of the strategic use of financial aid in the recruitment and retention of students
  • Familiarity with:
    •  Ellucian Colleague
    • COD, FAAAcces, NSLDS
    • State of Minnesota financial aid programs
    • William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan program and private loan certification
    • Return of Title IV calculations and regulations
