JOB SUMMARY:  Coordinate and implement outreach programs aimed at increasing giving and participation in the Gustavus Fund and all other related fundraising efforts within the Office of Advancement – building a culture of philanthropy among our alumni, alumni class officers, and current students. Manage and direct the Phonathon program staffed primarily with student callers. Collaborate on overall solicitation strategies for the Gustavus Fund, reunion giving initiatives, and special giving day initiatives. Participate as an active and engaged member of the Alumni and Parent Engagement Team.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage and direct the Phonathon program, including the hiring and management of 60-80 student callers and six student call center supervisors.  Manage and implement the Phonathon budget.  Meet semester and daily goals for the Phonathon program and provide on-site coaching for student leaders and callers. Apply problem-solving skills with regard to donor relations, software management, and student engagement. Conduct analysis of and measure program effectiveness.
  • Organize and guide student philanthropy activities to foster and strengthen a culture of philanthropy among students on campus. Recruit, educate, train, and mentor student leaders as it relates to Gustavus philanthropy, development, and stewardship efforts. Coordinate special events for current students related to advancing student philanthropy.
  • Manage the Senior Class Legacy Gift Program. Recruit and solicit SLC gift committee members. Manage related marketing, awareness of and donor stewardship for the Senior Class Legacy Gift.  Achieve annual SCL goals as set by Advancement leadership.  
  • Manage Gustavus Fund data analysis, database list generation, digital outreach, and mass email communication. Work collaboratively with Director of the Gustavus Fund to develop consistent messaging throughout donor segments, integrating a multi-channel approach for online, direct mail, digital, and telephone solicitation efforts. Support all Gustavus Fund giving initiatives, including Give to Gustavus Day.
  • Collaborate with reunion giving team colleagues to strategically solicit key reunion classes and support class outreach.
  • Plan and manage portions of the departmental budget directly linked to the Gustavus Fund.
  • Creatively and meaningfully steward donors of the college.
  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations as able.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Prerequisites

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Experience leading a group and project management.
  • Ability to collaborate with students, alumni, and other departments on campus.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in analysis, organization, and planning.
  • Understanding of liberal arts education and enthusiasm for non-profit advocacy.
  • Participation in frequent evening and weekend activities.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Non-profit or service work experience.
  • Leadership positions held within an organization.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:   

  • This position will frequently work nights and weekends for a portion of a 40-hour work week.
