JOB SUMMARY: The Custodial and Support Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Custodial and Support Services department including but not limited to, hiring and personnel management, employee recognition program, policies and procedure development, budgeting, department specific training, event set up planning and coordination, vendor relations, customer service, payroll, and safety program. The primary focus is to meet and exceed customer expectations, and to achieve Facilities departmental goals and objectives.

This is an Exempt (salaried) position, typically Monday through Friday (with occasional weekend and evenings for special events) from 7am-4pm. 

Interviews will begin immediately.


  • Provide onsite leadership, oversees, and monitors custodial operations, setup and event services.
  • Working with Supervisors in organizing, scheduling, assigning and performing daily work routines.
  • Provide the leadership and communication skills necessary to build a strong team of trained supervisor’s, custodial and event set up staff. Proactive in the fulfillment of their day-to-day individual and team responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and provide assistance for building emergencies (such as fire/flood clean-up, snow/ice removal, etc.), during, and after working hours.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels to support required cleaning and project work.
  • Thoroughly inspect buildings and work being performed. Ensure quality of cleanliness is maintained.
  • Maintain building inspection programs as a tool for training and staff development. 
  • Ensure employees are following safe work procedures.
  • Plan and perform major cleaning operations, supervising, and following up on assigned work projects.  
  • Coordinate major work projects with constituents and/or college colleagues.
  • Schedule weekend work as needed.  
  • Responsible for the training and orientation process for new custodians.
  • Prepare and maintain all payroll activities.  Tabulate payroll hours and submit payroll to the HR/Payroll department. Prepare the next pay-period’s time cards.
  • Responsible for hiring, discipline, recognition, evaluating performance, recommending changes in position or employment status and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Take a pool inspector course and receive certification within the first 18 months of employment. 
  • This position has been designated as weather- or emergency-essential. In the event of a closure of the College, it is vital that you report to work if scheduled. In addition, as a member of the Essential Weather Employee Team, you may be asked to work beyond your normal hours to ensure coverage within your department/office. As a salaried employee, this work will not be compensated with additional pay.
  • All other duties as assigned.



  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Management experience in Facilities or related fields.
  • Able to communicate effectively with the customer and responsive to their feedback. 
  • Able to independently re-adjust priorities in dynamic environments.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Must be able to work alternative hours to assist with planned/special events and emergency situations.
  • Maintain professional interactions with employees and students providing excellent customer service. 
  • Excellent decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years of management experience.
  • Technical or Bachelors degree.
  • History of work in a higher education.
