Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time two-year position of Visiting Instructor (or Assistant Professor with appropriate qualifications) in the Department of Economics and Management to begin September 1, 2022.

Department Information: The mission of the Economics and Management Department is to equip students to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems through excellent, liberal arts education and experiential learning, which enables students to become ethical and entrepreneurial leaders. The Department offers majors in Economics, Management, and Accounting and graduates an average of 80 students per year, including 40 management majors. All management majors take a core of courses that includes Introduction to Management, Applied Business Analytics, Organizational Behavior and Management, and Strategic Management.

Major/Essential Functions: The annual teaching assignment will be 5 courses, one of which will be a one-month January Term intensive course determined by the candidate and appropriate to the candidate’s expertise. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Applied Business Analytics and Introduction to Management, and contributions to general education.

Prerequisites

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An MBA or a graduate degree in management, statistics, business analytics or related fields
  • Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate student advising
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience teaching undergraduate management courses
  • Previous experience teaching or using statistical software such as RStudio, Excel, Tableau, SQL, or Python
