While you will typically meet with the tutor you have signed up for, there may be cases where you may end up meeting with a substitute tutor. In such a case, by signing up for an appointment, you agree to allow your name, and other appointment information you have provided, to be given to the substitute tutor.

¿Qué onda? I’m Amanda Landaverde and I am a Junior Psychology and Spanish double major with a Neuroscience minor. I’m from San Francisco and my father is from El Salvador so I grew up in a bilingual household and a multilingual city. I plan on going to Buenos Aires this spring and traveling back to El Salvador before I graduate. I also am involved in other activities on campus such as I Am We Are Executive Board, E Pluribus, psychological research, Event Technological Services, and Philosopher’s Guild. ¿Qué tal? My name is Hyllarie Barillas, a sophomore Nursing and Spanish double major from Jordan, MN. On campus, I'm also involved in cheerleading, Gustie buddies, and trying to join a sorority. I also plan on traveling to El Salvador this upcoming summer so I'm super excited! My mom is from El Salvador and my dad is from Guatemala so Spanish has always been a huge part of my life. ¡Hola! My name is James Ramsburg and I am a junior Spanish and LALACS major. I fell in love with Spanish in grade school, and I am always looking for opportunities to learn, speak, and tutor it! On campus I'm involved in many organizations, especially those relating to social justice, and my goal is to one day study how to connect practice with theory in helping the marginalized populations of Latin America. As for my tutoring, my expertise is in grammar and editing so I'd love to help you with any essays/writing exercises, as well as with any other questions you might have! ¡Hasta luego!

¡Hola! ¿Qué tal?  I’m Jessica and I’m a junior music performance and Spanish double major from St. Cloud, Minnesota. One day I hope to be become a music therapist or a professional musician, while integrating Spanish as part of my career. I’m involved in a variety of activities on campus, including multiple music ensembles, language buddies, on campus ministry, and Zeta Chi Phi. Last spring I had the wonderful opportunity of studying abroad in Valparaiso, Chile and it was one of the best experiences of my life. ¡Hola! My name is Jesus Zavala and I am a sophomore Biology and Spanish double major. I was born in Mexico but have been living in Poplar Bluff, Missouri since I was 3. My parents are both from Mexico so Spanish was my first language. I love speaking Spanish and immersing myself in the Hispanic culture as much as I can. Mexico is the only Spanish speaking country I have been to, but I plan on hopefully studying in Spain the fall semester of my junior year. I am involved with Language Amigitos which is a service program where I get to teach Spanish to kindergartners. I enjoy fútbol, video games, organic chemistry and biology! ¡Hola! I'm Leah Moat, a junior Spanish and Biology double major from Chanhassen, MN. I'm super passionate about Spanish and traveling in Latin America; I've been to El Salvador many times, Cuba during J-term last year, and I'm looking forward to studying in Argentina in the spring! Besides traveling and speaking Spanish, I also enjoy photography, reading, yoga, and drinking coffee. I've been living in Spain for the most part of my life, also before coming to Gustavus i have been living in Mexico. I love a lot the languages which beside Spanish i talk other languages, so that's why i will like to been helping other to learn new languages like Spanish. ¡Hola! My name is Sarah Cox and I’m a biology and Spanish double major with a pre-veterinary focus. I’m very passionate about animals and animal husbandry (I was an interpretive naturalist this summer at the MN Zoo!) as well as the education portion that comes along with vet care, and I’m hoping to use my Spanish in order to communicate with a variety of clients. On campus, I’m involved in the pre-vet club, rugby, track and field, Sigma Delta Pi and Tri Beta. I’m planning on studying abroad in Ecuador this spring to improve my skills and cultural awareness.
