Please note: Letters should be addressed to Provost Brenda Kelly, but should be emailed directly to her assistant, Shanon Nowell (snowell@gustavus.edu). Acknowledgment will be sent upon receipt.

Letters for Tenure Candidates Sought

The following members of the faculty are currently being considered for appointments with continuous tenure:

  • Jillian Downey, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics
  • Lucie Holmgreen, Psychological Science
  • Rory McFadden, Environment, Geography, and Earth Sciences
  • Shu-Ling Wang, Economics and Management 
  • Sarah Wolter, Communication Studies 

Letters should address the criteria for tenure as stated in the Faculty Manual. The Kendall Center has provided a useful document with strategies for reducing implicit bias in recommendation letters; this will be a helpful reference in crafting letters on behalf of tenure candidates.

Letters are due Monday, September 19, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. All members of the Gustavus community are invited to submit letters. Candidates will have access to their letters.

Letters for Promotion Candidates Sought

The following member(s) of the faculty are currently being considered for promotion to full professor:

  • Brandon Dean, Music
  • Maddalena Marinari, History
  • Sharon Marquart, Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures/Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies
  • Carlos Mejía Suárez, Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
  • Joaquin Villanueva, Environment, Geography, and Earth Sciences

Letters written on behalf of these candidates should address the criteria for promotion as stated in the Faculty Manual. Promotion Nomination Letters Due

Promotion nomination letters (including self-nominations) for faculty wishing to be considered for promotion in the spring of 2023 are due in the Office of the Provost by Monday, February 6, 2023.
