Meet Bushra Wahid

Why did you choose Gustavus?
Everyone was extremely helpful from the beginning of my admission process. All my questions were answered right away. Gustavus never made it seem like they were doing me a favor.

What has been your favorite academic experience?
Public Discourse has been by far the best academic experience I have had. For this class, I had a benefit dinner to raise money for my hometown of Ladakh, India. Not only did the class teach me how to speak confidently in front of a crowd, but it also made me realize how much power I had to help people.

What activities have you been involved in at Gustavus that have been the most rewarding?

I have been involved with the Pan African Student Organization (PASO) and the International Cultures Club(ICC). I am very passionate about both organizations. It has been so wonderful being a part of PASO. I feel honored to have learned so much about the vast diversity of the continent. Africa is filled with rich literature, dance, music, art, language, food, customs and much more. ICC has also been very important to me. Every year we hope to enrich the Gustavus community with knowledge about a variety of cultures through the International Festival. The event “The Tibetan Story” was very close to my heart. This event is aimed at raising awareness about the oppression of Tibetans by the Chinese government.

What is your favorite food in the Marketplace?
I enjoy almost everything.

What is your favorite Gustavus tradition?
Traying down the hill by Old Main in the winter.
