Church Relations and Community Engagement

To trace the roots of the work of the Center one would find themselves at the very founding of the College. Rooted in a Christian perspective, we embrace the biblical mandate from Jesus that true leadership expresses itself in service to others (Luke 22:24-27), and affirm the classical ideal of a liberating education, an education that frees one to serve God and humanity to the best of one’s ability.

The definition of community at Gustavus has always been broadly understood to include both internal as well as external relationships.
