Religious and Spiritual Life
Office of the Chaplains
Welcome! The Chaplains of the College seek to accompany the entire Gustavus community in a solidarity that celebrates diversity and embraces connectedness. Because of the Swedish-Christian-Lutheran heritage of the college, the Chaplains promote spiritual exploration through respectful inclusion and enriching dialogue in the context of global religious pluralism. In doing so, the Chaplains seek to strategically integrate faith and spiritual development into learning and life for the sake of restoring communities through radical compassion and hospitality.
Christ Chapel is a worship and learning place where the Gustavus community can experience music from around the world, listen to messages from a variety of perspectives, and gather together during significant personal and corporate life passages.
The Chaplains engage in conversations with people regarding vocation, faith questions, relationship struggles, crisis situations, and the daily joys and sorrows of life. These conversations happen in classrooms, on retreats, after worship, in the Marketplace, during discussions, on walks in the Arboretum, in Bible studies, during service in the St. Peter community, and in many other ways and places.
