Description

Dr. Rebecca Wingo (Macalester College) will present a lecture titled "Our Students Will Thank You: Digital Humanities in the Classroom" as part of the college's Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant to expand the digital humanities through January Term courses. Dr. Wingo is a historian of the Indigenous and American West. She received her PhD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned a Certificate in Digital Humanities. She is currently the Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Liberal Arts at Macalester College where she works with faculty to integrate digital tools in both research and teaching. Her most recent manuscript, Homesteading the Plains: Towards a New History, will release in Spring 2017, and it incorporates network analysis of rural Nebraska homesteaders. Her other manuscript, Restructuring the Reservation, relies heavily on photography of the Crow Reservation, and she plans to curate a digital archive for the Crow tribe.

The talk is open to the public.
