Description
Greg Kaster (history) will discuss the Vietnam War, in conjunction with the Hillstrom Museum of Art's exhibitions of "Vietnam Drawings by Gene Basset" and "Tales of Yellow Skin: The Art of Long Nguyen." Basset, a well-known news cartoonist, spent some months in Vietnam in 1965 for the Scripps-Howard newspapers. Nguyen, born 1958, is a Vietnam-born artist from California who grew up during the war, leaving Vietnam in 1975 on one of the boats of refugees. Kaster's talk is titled "The Vietnam War: History, Memory, and Representation."
