"The Future of the (Digital) Humanities"January 21, 2016 at 7–8:30 p.m.

In connection with a number of January courses focusing on the digital humanities, Dr. David J. Staley will discuss the significance of artificial intelligence (synthetic intelligence) on our work as humanists, and the persistence of humanistic skills (especially sense-making, hermeneutics, the apprehension of meaning) in the face of such synthetic intelligence.

Staley is an associate professor in the Department of History and an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Design at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he also serves as the Director of the Harvey Goldberg Center for Excellence in Teaching. His research interests include digital history, the philosophy of history, historical methodology, and the history and future of higher education.
