Soup and Sandwich Seminar: Integration at Gustavus by Bruce Gray '61 Melva Lind Interpretive Center

Presenter Bruce Gray '61 is the former Dean of Students and associate in the Office of Advancement.  He is also the author of Black and Bold: A History of African-American Students at Gustavus Adolphus College. Bruce and his wife Sue recently received the Greater Gustavus Award, which goes to those "who by deed, have notably advanced and aided Gustavus Adolphus College.”

Bruce will share about his time at Gustavus, and his time post-Gustavus writing and researching his new book. The book salutes the African-American students while it tells of their trials, tribulations and triumphs as they pursued their degrees. Through Gray, we hear their voices and discover what the students accomplished once they left "The Hill.” Many of them chose this opportunity to declare, "Bruce and Sue Gray were the best friends and mentors that we could have had.”
