Description

Join us on Tuesday, April 15 from 4:30 to 6 pm in the St. Peter Room for the Showcase for Community-Engaged Scholarship. Title: Community-Based Learning in a Liberal Arts Setting

Community-based learning is a high impact teaching strategy being employed on liberal arts campuses across the country as a way to engage students in real-world learning opportunities. The presentation will include an overview of community-based learning principles, with a focus on current research findings. The presentation will highlight current community-based learning projects taking place at Gustavus across a variety of disciplines. As community-based learning involves faculty, community partners, and student learners, a particular focus for the presentation will be on these three voices and their role in community-based learning. The presentation will also focus on ways to use community-based learning for scholarly activity.
