Description

During the month of August we upgraded the mailserver here at Gustavus. During this upgrade the machine responsible for mail shifted from solen to a cluster of machines. These changes necessitated a setting change for most e-mail clients (Eudora, Thunderbird, Mail and Outlook).

We still have some clients trying to send mail through either solen.gac.edu or imap.gac.edu. If they are sending mail to users who solen knows about - it works. If they are sending mail to addresses that solen doesn't know about (any new accounts or class aliases) the mail fails to go, and they get a return to sender (Dave will sing here) message.

E-mail settings need to be changed to:

Incoming
incoming mailserver: imap.gac.edu
Using Port 993 (normal default)
Using SSL

Outgoing
smtp (outgoing) server: smtp-auth.gac.edu
Using Authentication
Using SSL
Using an alternate port - 465

Eudora users will have to upgrade to the newest version - available from www.eudora.com

All clients have different places to set these settings - a web page with settings is coming soon.

If you have questions or problems, please ask Nick, Kathy or Tami.
