Recipes as the Ultimate MemeMarch 24, 2023 at 2:30–4 p.m.

Join us FRIDAY, March 23, at 2:30 for a talk by Dr. Robert Valgenti, entitled "Recipes as the Ultimate Meme." Details on the attached poster. 

This will be an opportunity for students to get concrete, guided practice in listening to, and responding to, a lecture. The lecture will be online following it, we'll mute the speaker and work, in small groups, to decipher the thesis and argument of the talk, AND to come up with a question for the speaker. Then we'll bring back Dr. Valgenti, who will field those worked-out questions.

The approach is experimental, designed to speak to the present moment, and also to acknowledge the fact that *listening* to a sustained argument is both unnatural and useful. We'll be doing a survey of attendees, to see whether they found this approach helpful.
