Description

Interested in studying abroad in Romania? Do you like the outdoors? Want to make an impact working with Romanian youth?

Visit with Dave Nonnemacher of New Horizons Romania and the Northwestern College Study Abroad in Romania program. This is a unique semester experience engaging the culture of post-communist Romania. Through this program, students explore the area of Lupeni, Romania and are directly involved with experiential education activities (adventure education and service learning) in working with Romanian youth. Participants study Romanian culture, history, language, Eastern Orthodoxy, and sustainable development theory, combining these subjects with experiential and service-learning pedagogy among Romanian young people. The program is group oriented, and includes excursions, a mountain backpacking trip, and homestays with Romanian families.
