The Department of Music presents Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone John Engebretson in concert.

This concert is free and open to the public, no ticket is required.

About the performer:

John Engebretson grew up in Alexandria, Minn. and attended Gustavus, graduating in 1991. At Gustavus, he majored in saxophone performance and then studied at the Conservatory in Bordeaux, France, under Jean-Marie Londeix. Graduate studies include a master's degree in saxophone performance from Northwestern University, where he studied with Fred Hemke, followed by another master's degree in music education.

He has performed throughout the country as a soloist, as a member of several quartets, and in numerous orchestral performances in Minneapolis and Chicago. Highlights include performances in the North American Saxophone Alliance Regional and National Conventions, as well as the World Saxophone Congress in 2003. Mr. Engebretson has taught band at Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minn., since 2004, and he joined the Gustavus faculty in 2006 as adjunct saxophone professor.
