Description

The Music Department presents the Transcontinental Piano Duo of Elaine Greenfield and Jan Thompson performing "concert favorites".

This performance is free and open to the public, no ticket is required.

About the performers:

The Transcontinental Piano Duo met in the summer of 1990, when both members were on the faculty of the Adamant Music School in Adamant, Vermont. Their friendship and musical rapport soon led to formation of the Arizona/Vermont duo. The TPD has given workshops, master classes and performances nationwide, performing in university settings, at professional conferences, and in community concert series across the United States. Reviews note the Duo's "impeccable ensemble", "great musicianship and versatility", and "delicate phrasing and expressive lines...many moments of brilliance and excitement." Recent highlights include performances at the MTNA National Conference in New York City, the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, Arizona's Steinway Chamber Music Festival, and a six university Wisconsin-Iowa tour. The Duo's most recent recording, "The Elegant Erard—music of Debussy, Faure, Bizet, and Ravel performed on an historic instrument", was released on Centaur Records.
