Description

Active shooter situations are possible wherever people gather: school, work, places of worship, sporting events, etc. With this is mind, the Minneapolis FBI has developed a presentation which addresses the active shooter threat in a diversity of situations. The Nicollet County Office of Emergency Management, Nicollet County Sheriff's Office, and the Department of Campus Safety at Gustavus Adolphus College invite you to attend this Active Shooter presentation on Wednesday - April 13th, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall in the Johnson Student.

The speaker for this 1.5 hour presentation will be Special Agent Joseph Malhoit, who will cover both what to do in an active shooter situation to increase the probability of survival, and how to identify potential pre-event indicators of a person preparing to embark on a mass violence event. He will look at past mass violence events and the research and statistics related to active shooters. Another aspect of this presentation, which is unique, is that SA Malhoit will instruct attendees regarding "Active Listening Skills. eThese skills can be used to assist people with preventing an active shooter situation and not just surviving one.
