Men's Cross Country 1998
1998 Season
The Gusties started the regular season with strong performances at the UW-River Falls Invitational (third out of 10) and the St. John’s Invitational (fifth out of eight) and ended it with a solid sixth place finish (out of 15) at the UW-LaCrosse Invitational.
The championship season began with a disappointing eighth place finish (out of 11) at the conference meet. The next week, however, the team responded with its finest performance of the season as all seven runners recorded their season best times resulting in a ninth place finish (out of 22) at the NCAA Central Region meet.
Junior Steffan Freeman spearheaded the team’s late season surge as he earned all-conference honors with an 11th place finish at the MIAC Championships, and all-region honors with an 11th place finish at the region meet. Freeman completed his outstanding season with a 54th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
