Tell me about your family (siblings, are any of your family members current/previous Gusties?): I have two younger sisters. My grandparents met at Gustavus back in 69.
Tell me about your experiences so far at Gustavus: It's been pretty good. I choose Gustavus because of all the opportunities it gives me to do all the different things I love, and I've been taking advantage of those since I started a year and a half ago.
What volunteering or community service have you done in and/or out of college?: I've done a fair amount of volunteering with my home church as well as community engagement through my high-school. Most of the work done since then has to do with playing music for people and organizations. I enjoy getting out in the world and giving the gift of music.
What other extracurricular activities, clubs, or organizations are you a part of?: I am part of the Gustavus choir, the Gustavus wind orchestra, chem club, the nordic ski club, sauna society, Big hill farm, phonathon, fly fishing club.
How have these activities changed your time at Gustavus?: I’ve met tons of friends through these different activities, and i've gotten great opportunities to find what I really enjoying doing.
Have you been a part of any movements that work for social justice or change? What are you passionate about?: I've been a part of, and still am a part of, many different movements. One of the movements I'm most passionate about is the environmental movement to help save our planet, as well as the BLM movement where I attended multiple protests and events, especially this summer during some of the biggest protests. All in all I am a strong believer in change and progression, as this nation has a long way to go before it can be a country of peace and justice for all.
Tell me about any high school athletic and academic achievements or awards that you have earned: I joined track for the first time my freshman year of college. In high school I rowed as my main sport, and I was the stroke of our varsity boat that whole time.
Tell me about your college academic and athletic achievements that you have earned . (Captain, All-American, all-conference, academic all-conference, etc, and include year): So far I haven’t had the chance to compete so I haven't had the ability to achieve any awards.
Why did you choose Gustavus?: Gustavus had all the opportunities I wanted from a college wall also feeling small and tight knit. when I visited campus I felt like people really liked being part of this college and in the end it was that school pride that convinced me to come here.
In your opinion what makes the Gustavus cross country/track and field programs different from other colleges?: I love this program, as even though I plan to only compete in one event and I've never even been a part of a track team before, I feel included and like i'm part of something bigger than myself. Im to sure what other track programs are like, but that seems pretty special to me.
