Year at Gustavus: Sophomore
What events are you in? Are you in both cross country and track and field?: I am in both track and cross.
Where did you go to high school?: Red Wing High School
Where is your hometown?: Red Wing, MN
Tell me about your family (siblings, are any of your family members current/previous Gusties?): I have one younger brother. He's a senior in high school and is also in track
Tell me about your experiences so far at Gustavus: Gustavus is great because it's a community of people that want to see others succeed. This is obvious in sports and the classroom.
What volunteering or community service have you done in and/or out of college?: I volunteered to help run a kids' camp to help prepare them for a short road race through the YMCA.
How have these activities changed your time at Gustavus?: These activities are great because they allow me to meet people with similar interests
Have you been a part of any movements that work for social justice or change? What are you passionate about?: No, but I would like to be more involved in this area. I am passionate about racial equality.
Tell me about any high school athletic and academic achievements or awards that you have earned: I am a 3x state xc participant, 4x all conference track, school record holder (4x800), honor roll.
Why did you choose Gustavus?: I chose GAC because I really got along with everyone I met during visits. The overnight was a lot of fun, coaches seemed invested, people were nice. I could see myself thriving here both academically and in athletics!!
In your opinion what makes the Gustavus cross country/track and field programs different from other colleges?: Our team culture is awesome, and I'm glad to be part of it. Even though there are so many different event groups, we are definitely united as one large family. I know I can count on my teammates for anything, whether it be school related, me needing advice about life, or if I need to borrow a pair of gloves for a winter run!
