The Gustavus Adolphus College men's golf team finished fifth out of 21 teams at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships held at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Gusties, who were in 14th place heading into the fourth and final round of the 72-hole tournament, shot a sizzling 306 to move up nine places and finish fifth with a final total of 319-315-302-306--1242 which was 30 shots behind national champion Guilford College which finished at 1212. Gustavus was led by sophomore Neil Johnson (River Falls, Wisc.) who finished 13th with a 72-hole total of 80-78-70-77--305 (+21) and freshman AJ Hoffman (Mankato, Minn.) who finished 22nd with a total of 83-79-75-72--309 (+25). Johnson earned Third Team All-America honors and Hoffman received honorable mention All-America honors by virtue of where they placed in the individual tournament. This is the fifth consecutive year that Gustavus has finished in the top ten at the Division III Championships. The Gusties have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for 18 consecutive years and finished in the top ten 14 times.

The Golf Coaches Association handed out numerous awards at the national tournament and several Gusties were honored including: Neil Johnson and Luke Benoit being named All-District Five First Team, Brooks Anderson and Dan Suedbeck being named GCAA Scholar Athletes, and Scott Moe being named Central Region Coach of the Year.
