1998 Fall Season
A conference title and two impressive finishes in national tournaments led to a very successful fall season for Head Coach Scott Moe and his squad.
In mid-October, the Gusties won their third consecutive conference title (and 16th in the past 17 years) in convincing fashion as they finished 17 strokes ahead of second place Concordia. Junior J.P. Prenevost earned MIAC medalist for the second time in three years and became the 14th consecutive Gustavus golfer to claim conference medalist honors. Joining Prenevost on the all-conference team were seniors Shawn Gudahl, Steve Erickson and Kyle Landon.
In late October the squad participated in two elite Division III invitation only tournaments - The Gordin Collegiate Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the Rolex Match Play Championships in Orlando, Florida. The Gusties performed very well in both tournaments finishing seventh out of 12 at the Gordin Classic and sixth out of eight at the Rolex Championships.
Coach Scott Moe and his squad enter the spring season ranked fifth in the Division III Coaches Poll and their sights set on a 15th consecutive bid to the NCAA National Tournament.
