Athletic Hall of Fame
The Gustavus Adolphus College Hall of Fame was established in 1978 at which time 19 "Charter Members" were inducted either as coaches or as athletes. As of the fall of 2022, 348 individuals (321 athletes, 16 coaches and 11 benefactors) have been elected to the Hall of Fame.
The former Hall of Fame room on the second floor of the Lund Center was originally partially endowed by the families of both Dwight Holcombe's (the only father/son combination holding membership in the Hall). The hardwood plaque upon which the individual plates are permanently displayed, now in the Hall of Champions, was donated by the family of former football coach and Hall of Fame member Jocko Nelson, who passed away in 1978.
Erik Allen
Basketball

A versatile and athletic post player who was as dangerous on the perimeter as he was in the paint, Erik Allen was a key component of the Gustie basketball program as it moved back into the national spotlight in the early 1990s. A four-year standout who played in all 112 games of his career, Allen graduated as the seventh leading scorer in the program's history with 1,528 points, while also ranking fourth in career field goals (624), fourth in career field goal percentage (.550), and eighth in career rebounds (605). He is one of only 14 players at Gustavus to be named to the All-Conference Team three times in his career. Allen helped the Gusties claim conference titles in 1991 and 1992 and win league playoff titles in 1989 and 1992. In his senior season, he was tri-captain of a Gustie squad that won the MIAC regular season title with a record of 15-5 and then went on to win the MIAC Post-Season Tournament and advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before falling to the eventual national champions from Calvin College by a score of 69-68 in front of a standing room only crowd at Gus Young Court. Allen became the first player in the program's history to be named to a NCAA Sectional All-Tournament Team.
After graduating in 1992 with a major in accounting, Allen accepted a position as a staff accountant with Boulay, Heutmaker, Zibell & Co. Certified Public Accountants. Allen has worked with Boulay for the past 18 years becoming a partner in May of 2002. He specializes in advising employee owned companies and providing merger and acquisition consulting services. Erik and his wife, Susan live in Shakopee with their children Jackson, Brooks, and Lillian.
