Lee Krough Inducted 1978

Lee Krough

Lee Krough was a valued assistant coach for the Gustie football and basketball teams served as head coach at various times in track, wrestling and freshman basketball. He did have a one-year stint as head football coach in 1951 when Hollingsworth was called back into service for the Korean conflict. Lee responded to the challenge by guiding the Gusties to a 9-0-1 record and thus became the only head football coach in Gustavus history to have an unbeaten record. It was difficult for Lee to get angry, and on him a frown turned out to be a half-smile.
As a coach he never took the demanding father role, but was more the doting grandfather. In the summer of 1977 he was inducted into the Minnesota Hall of Fame, and he had been previously inducted into the Upper Iowa University Hall of Fame. He spent over half a century closely connected with sports, as a participant and a coach, and was looked up to by hundreds of athletes who played for him or known him over his long career.
Lee Krough died August 25, 1977.
