Class of 2009
March 2009

Greetings fellow members of the Class of 2009!

My name is Chris Edelbrock, and I’m an International Management and Political Science major. Over the last four years, I’ve been involved in Student Senate, the Epsilon Pi Alpha Fraternity, GAC TV, Senior Week, and the Senior Class Legacy committee among other activities. I’ve also been asked to write this first class letter to introduce all of us to one of the many ways that Gustavus will communicate with us over the coming years.

It’s hard to believe, but nearly four years ago we drove up College Avenue for the first time to begin our new lives as Gusties. Now, in just over two months we will be finding ourselves doing just the opposite. We will pack up our things, enjoy one last week of festivities with our classmates, walk across the stage on Hollingsworth Field, and drive down College Avenue as alumni of Gustavus Adolphus College.

Although we’ll be leaving Gustavus, these class letters are a way for all of us to communicate with the college and each other – to share important news in our lives and read up on the accomplishments of others. These letters will also include important information on upcoming alumni events around the country as well as upcoming events on campus in case you are able to make it back for a visit. Until we leave campus though, I’ll include some reminders about special upcoming campus events for our class.

For instance, the Grad Finale will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 2 in the Heritage Room of the Campus Center. It’s a one stop shop for picking up your cap and gown, tickets for Commencement and Baccalaureate, graduation announcements, and class rings. You can also talk to the Career Center and check out the Senior Week schedule.

Alumni Relations has included a survey for you to fill out, wondering what activities you have been involved with over the past four years and what is next for you. Please fill this out and bring it with you to Grad Finale to receive a Gustavus 2 gig jump drive!

Also, if you are interested in becoming a Class Agent, contact Erin Wilken at for more information.

Take care everybody, and I hope to see you all over the coming weeks to celebrate the last four years here at Gustavus!
