Class of '98
Greetings and Happy Spring!
I absolutely love this time of year; just hearing the birds chirping outside and not having to take five minutes to bundle up before braving the Minnesota chill is enough to put me in a great mood! This last weekend after having a great Easter brunch with my family we all headed outside for a walk around the pond in my parent’s backyard. It was great to see the open water and pass by a rousing game of neighborhood softball on the other side of the pond…Ah-h springtime in Minnesota…I remember that this time of year at Gustavus it got harder and harder to stay focused on studying with the weather getting nicer every day. I can recall gazing out of my window in Rundstrom at students throwing a Frisbee or football around on any given afternoon and wishing that I didn’t have so much studying to do!
I’d first like to let you all know that Alicia Sutphen Schimke and I (Karen Delgehausen) have officially accepted the honor of joining Gigi Wait Dobosenski and Brad Peterson as your class agents. After Alicia and I helped with the planning of our 10-year reunion last fall we both decided to further our involvement! We’re both excited for the opportunity to be more involved and to keep you as up to date as we can with how the rest of our class of 1998 is doing and what is going on back at Gustavus.
Speaking of the reunion, it was SO GREAT to see so many old familiar faces! (For those of you who were unable to make it this time around we missed you and hope to see you at the next one of course.) We had a great turn out and great weather; we couldn’t have asked for a better day! The new football stadium is quite impressive, and if you haven’t seen the newly refurbished Old Main it is amazing. And to whomever might have paid a visit to good ol’ Patrick’s in the evening I have two questions: Where did the stage go and who decided it would be a good idea to put a tree where the pool tables used to be?? Nonetheless it was great to visit our stomping grounds with some old friends!
I hope that you all are doing well and getting out to enjoy the spring weather. Please keep your updates coming by sending them to the alumni office at Gustavus or by visiting email@example.com; we would love to hear from you! Another great way to reconnect and keep in touch is through Facebook (www.facebook.com); if you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet what are you waiting for??
All the best,
1998 Co-Class Agent
I would like to join Karen in thanking many of you for the participation in the reunion! It was an awesome day! Additionally, our 10-year reunion year brought us an awesome fiscal giving year for our class. We raised nearly $30,000!! Congratulations and thank you for your generosity to the current and future Gusties! Together with our awesome participation in reunion, the class of 1998 is truly the epitome of Gustavus spirit! It was a pleasure to be a part of the reunion committee and many thanks to those who helped plan! Remember, you can still participate as a Gustie alum by reading these letters, making visits to Gustavus, or joining our group on Facebook. I hope to hear from you all soon!
