Class of '75
December 2012Dear Class of 1975,
Gustavus Adolphus College has a wonderful tradition of helping students succeed, thanks in part to the financial support of its great alumni. For the current Annual Fund drive, we have established a goal for our class to have a 45% participation level, and to raise a minimum of $70,000. We would need 168 classmates to make a gift to Annual Fund to reach that goal. Our average has been 125 classmates.
There are many ways to contribute financially to the College. One way is by supporting the Annual Fund, which started June 1 and concludes May 31, 2013. The Annual Fund is made up of unrestricted and restricted gifts. Unrestricted gifts are used by the College where funding is needed most – scholarships, lighting the buildings, etc. Tuition alone does not cover all the costs of a Gustavus education. The Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between tuition and actual costs. Restricted gifts are given for a specific area of the College and allow you to designate how you want your contribution used.
Another way to contribute is through the “1975 Class Endowed Scholarship,” that was established by our class a few years ago. In order to start supplying grants/scholarship to students, we need to reach a level of $25,000. The fund currently has a balance of approximately $3,000, so we have a ways to go before we can start making a difference to future students of the College. Please make a note with your gift if you would like it to go towards the scholarship.
Every contribution, of any size, is very important. I hope you will take this opportunity to review your support and help us continue that tradition of success. You may make a gift to the Annual Fund to honor or memorialize a family member, a friend, a coworker, a student, a faculty member or a mentor. Please return your gift in the enclosed reply envelope, or by going online to gustavus.edu. You may also contact Jackie Neeck Peterson ’77, assistant vice president for institutional advancement at email@example.com or 507 933-7543 with any questions, or to discuss other ways in which you may contribute. Thank you for your generosity in supporting and helping to ensure the success of future graduates of Gustavus Adolphus College.
