Class of 2010

October 2011

Greetings Class of 2010!

It’s that time again.  The air is getting crisp, leaves beginning to turn, and Christmas merchandise is already hitting store shelves!  Okay, the last one there isn’t so exciting for me just yet, but retail is retail I suppose.  This is my second letter to you as one of your friendly Class Officers and I’m excited to be able to reconnect with everyone once again.

The last time I wrote to you I described some of the events that I witnessed by being on-campus for a summer after graduation, and while this year I don’t have much to report first-hand we can be sure that the campus continues to grow and evolve with each year that passes:

By now, students of the largest class in Gustavus history, the class of 2014, have surely gotten comfortable with their new surroundings, schedules, events, and friends.  The campus was very busy last weekend carrying out the all the events tied with the Sesquicentennial Kickoff Banquet, Class Officer Day and Homecoming and class reunions.  Wow!  It was quite a weekend and the weather couldn’t have been better.  The Sesquicentennial Banquet will be remembered as a famous landmark in our college’s rich history.

If you were able to be here for Homecoming I hope you didn’t forget to revisit and thank your favorite professors, mentors, coaches, or others.  Remember them and their respective programs when planning your annual gift to Gustavus.  Through us, the legacy of these programs, and future advances to the institution will be possible.

Class News

Bradley Abell and Kayla Elbert ’11 are now engaged and planning a marriage at Gustavus for next August.

Lauren Guzniczak is living in London and finishing her M.A. in art business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and interning with a start-up website called Value My Stuff

Zachary Coles is living in Aurora, CO teaching 9-12 vocal music at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, CO while serving as the assistant cross country coach and musical director.

With that, I hope all has been well since last I checked in with you, I’m sure it has been an eventful year in more than one way, and I wish you the best for the new season that is upon us!

With Gustie Pride,

Derek Holm
