25-Year Reunion - October 9 & 10, 2009

Dear Class of 1984 Gustie:

First of all, an update on our reunion.  We have elected to participate in the All-School party, “The 5th Quarter,” following the football game on Saturday, October 10.  The party will cost $10 per person and there will be entertainment by the “Rockin’ Hollywoods.”  We’ll have an area segregated for our class!  It should be fun.  We will also have a tent party on Saturday evening at the home of Pete and Cassandra (Weltsch) Nelson.

The fundraising news for our class is great.  We reached 44% participation by May 31, the end of the Fund Year.  This placed us at or near the top for our “decade.”  Thanks to those of you who contributed.  There is even better news.

Due to the reunion taking place this fall, the Alumni Office allows us to count all donations received up to reunion day towards our Reunion Class Participation.  This means we can improve on our 44% and get over 50% (our goal) or even reach 60% (we reached this at our 10 year.)  We can also increase the amount of money we received ($84,600 as of 5/31).  As of 6/30 we have already increased our participation to 46%!  Thanks.

Here is what you can do:

  • If you haven’t already donated please consider making a contribution.  Any amount is important as it increases our participation rate as we strive to beat all reunion year classes.
  • If you have already made a donation consider making a pledge to donate the same amount for the next two years.  We get to count these pledges towards our reunion total as well.
  • Consider making a donation to the Class of 1984 Scholarship fund.  To date, we have received $600 toward this fund.  Once we reach $25,000 we will provide scholarship money to a needy student.

An envelope is enclosed for your convenience.  If you are willing to make a pledge, please note it on the envelope and send it in.  As you would expect, Gustavus will follow up with you.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at reunion.  I hope you are having a great summer.

Go Gusties!
