Class of '68
September 2008

Dear Classmates,

After our final meeting with the Airport Marriott Hotel completed on Thursday September 4 and with many planning sessions with the college over the last year, we’re pleased to announce that the “Still Crazy After All These Years” 1968―40th Class Reunion party is READY!  Now the only thing that remains is getting the reservation list finalized!

In preparation for this, you all have received a “Save The Date” postcard, numerous class letters, email invitations to register on line, registration forms sent by mail and just this week another email reminder.  Now, its up to you to get your name(s) added to our guest list and we are counting on that to make this a truly memorable weekend.

There’s no better way to kick off the weekend events than with our reception starting 6:30 p.m. at the Airport Marriott, which will give all of us a great opportunity to mingle and catch up on years past and present.  Picking up where the evening events left off is a breakfast at IKEA on Saturday morning before we head to the campus for a fun filled day of Gustie activities.  Buses will be available to and from campus and you can reserve a seat when you register.  We’ll have lunch outside the new state-of-the-art football stadium at noon, followed be a football game the Gustie vs. St. Thomas.  During the game we’ll make it possible for those who’d like to see the campus and its many changes over the last 40 years to take guided tours.  After all these activities conclude, we’ll met at Al ’66 and Ingrid (Wilson) Molde’s house for a get-together that will put the exclamation mark on this wonderful day and reunion party!  We’ll only have this opportunity to have a 40th reunion party once and we’re counting on you to be part of it!  WE ARE LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY so please take a moment RIGHT NOW, if you haven’t already and get your reservation into the college so that we can add your name(s) to our growing list of attendees!  You can do it online at:  alumni.gustavus.edu/events and click on 1968 Class Reunion.

For those who would be looking for accommodations for the weekend, the Airport Marriott still has room available for our 40th Reunion, call 952-854-7441 and ask for the “Gustie Special Rate” of $99 per night.  Also, Carl Zaar who works for Hilton Hotels has offered his property at 3900 American Blvd. West (just west of the Marriott, off of Highway 494) at a discounted rate of $89 per night!  You can get that offer by calling Todd Lehrke at 952-830-5257.  Thanks Carl for the very generous offer!!!!!

Our class gift to the college will be a large part of our 40th reunion celebration and we are closing in on our $100,000 goal.  To date we have pledges over $76,000 and we’d like to stress that our class gift is a vital way to keep the college strong!  YOUR dollars make OUR dollars available for students to continue their studies and helps continue Gustavus as a strong educational institution.  A tradition that we’ve already had an opportunity to experience and one we need to help sustain.  Thank you to all of you who have pledged and to those who will help us achieve our goal with pledges to come.

“Still Crazy After All These Years” 1968 40th Class Reunion is right around the corner…don’t miss out…make your plans now to be a part of this wonderful weekend party!  Looking forward to seeing you all on October 3rd & 4th!!

Your 1968 Reunion Committee
