The Gustavus men's and women's swimming and diving teams both finished what they started on Thursday as they won the MIAC Team Championships on Saturday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Gustie men, who claimed their sixth title in seven years, tallied 874 points. The Gustavus women repeated as MIAC Champions for their fourth title in seven years with 697.5 points.

The Gustavus women's swimming team turned in another strong performance and remained in first place with a 70-point lead over St. Olaf after the second day of the MIAC Championships. The Gustie men are in first place just 40 points ahead of St. Olaf. The championships, which are taking place at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, will conclude with competition on Saturday.

Women's Swimming Finishes Second At Gustavus Invitational

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team finished second at the Gustavus Invitational at Lund Natatorium on Saturday behind Division II Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Gusties claimed 785 points, only 101 points behind #4-ranked MSU, Mankato. MSU-Moorhead took third with 560.5 points, while St. Thomas finished fourth at 511.5 points and Saint Mary's took fifth at 100 points. Coach Carlson's squad grabbed four top finishes in the last meet before the MIAC Championships.

Women's Swimming Falls In Dual Meet With Carleton 130-170

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team dropped its final dual meet of the season in a 170-130 decision against Carleton in Northfield on Saturday. The Golden Gusties won four events and finished second in nine events, but that was not enough to overtake the Knights. Of those events, Coach Carlson's squad claimed first and second place in three events, including the 200 IM and the 1- and 3-meter diving.

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team turned in a convincing 143-79 dual meet victory over Macalester Friday evening at Lund Natatorium in St. Peter. The Gusties won seven individual events and one relay. The meet was a true team effort as ten individuals took home first-place finishes.

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team turned in a sixth place finish with 388 points at the two-day UW-Stevens Point Invitational in Stevens Point, Wis. The Gusties finished 478.5 points behind first-place University of North Dakota. Three swimmers registered top five finishes at the meet that featured three Division II schools, including Minnesota State University-Mankato, Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and UND.

The Gustavus men's and women's swimming programs started the new year by bringing home both first place titles from the CSB/SJU Winter Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. on Saturday. The Golden Gustie men captured 963 points, while St. Thomas finished in second place with 688 points and St. John's compiled 534 points for third. On the women's side, Gustavus tallied 896 points with Saint Benedict close behind with 856 points. St. Thomas rounded out the competition with 669 points.

The CollegeSwimming.com/Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has ranked both Gustavus men's and women's swimming and diving teams in its recent Division III Dual Meet Poll released on Wednesday. The Golden Gustie men and women are ranked 11th and 24th, respectively, in the poll.
