				<p> The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), has announced the finalists for the 2008 WBCA/State Farm All-America Basketball Team for Division III of the NCAA. The 40 finalists, which includes Gustavus standout Jess Vadnais, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America Team. The teams are selected by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions.</p>

				<p> The Gustavus women's basketball team came up short in a 73-64 loss to ninth-ranked Simpson College despite composing a valiant second-half rally in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night in Indianola, Iowa.  After facing a 17-point halftime deficit, the Golden Gusties fought back to within two points with 8:17 left after Bri Radtke hit a three-point shot from the left corner, but were unable complete the comeback.</p>

The announcement was made by the Salem, Virginia Rotary Club which presents the prestigious awards each year.  Ten finalists are selected for both the men and the women and the winner is announced at the NCAA Division  III Men's Basketball Final Four in Salem, Virginia on Thursday, March 20.</p>

				<p> The Gustavus women's basketball team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday night after suffering a 77-61 loss to St. Thomas in an MIAC Semifinal in St. Paul.  The Gusties trailed by one point with 5:55 remaining in the contest before the Tommies went on a 17-2 run to close out the game.  St. Thomas shot 57 percent from the field compared to 40 percent for the Gusties.  St. Thomas improved to 20-6, while Gustavus wrapped up the season at 18-9.</p>

				<p> The adage you remember the beginning and the end of a game was especially true for the Gustavus women's basketball team in a 79-66 playoff victory over Hamline on Monday night at Gus Young Court.  The Gusties outscored the Pipers 35-10 in the first and last five minutes to earn the right to play St. Thomas in St. Paul on Wednesday night.  Gustavus improved to 18-8, while Hamline's season ended at 13-13.</p>
