The existence of the CVR has been invaluable to my experience at Gustavus. It has offered me an outlet for serious reflection and soul-searching that is unique to the liberal arts college environment and one of Gustavus' greatest strengths. The CVR is a welcoming place and the programs it runs are of the sort that challenge students to be more active and involved in the world around them. This is exactly what the Gustavus mission statement would have happen- the CVR fosters excellence, service, leadership, self-discovery, social justice awareness, and community. I have attended many of the speakers they have brought to campus and found them incredibly enlightening and inspiring. Also, there has always been a surprisingly high rate of student attendance at these speakers, relative to speakers brought in by the rest of the campus community. It would be a very sad and wasteful loss if Gustavus did not continue to support the CVR in the work it does. I wholeheartedly support the CVR and hope the powers that be can recognize the invaluable perspective and services the CVR brings to our campus.
