The Intentional Learning and Service Houses are designed to provide students with the opportunity to create a community around a specific program that makes a direct contribution to the Gustavus community. Students residing in the ILS Houses regularly provide the campus community with education and activities surrounding the program.

ILS Social & Room Selection, 8:30 pm - 10:00 pm in Linner Lounge We read your application files to determine your skills, learn your interests, and to understand, on some small scale, your background. With this in mind, the Social and Room Selection event is a time for all who have been accepted to the program to begin the process of connecting as a community. We will begin to get to know each other and select rooms.. |
Before submitting your application, please read the paragraphs below.
Surcharge the ILS Program will require me to live in ILS Houses, a building that comes with a surcharge of approximately $1450 per person for the academic year.
Housing Process An invitation to join the ILS Program will then remove me from any future Housing Selection processes for the 2009-2010 academic year (singles, room clusters, doubles, etc.).
Participation Active participation in the ILS Program is a requirement of continuing membership. If my performance should drop below an acceptable level of involvement (attending meetings & ILS programs, assisting with the planning and execution of ILS events, connecting with others in the ILS community, etc.), as determined by the Residential Life Central Staff and Program Assistants, I may be removed from the ILS Program and administratively moved to a residence hall on campus.
NOTE: One-on-one meetings with Residential Life Central Staff and/or the Program Assistants to discuss participation would occur well before removal from the program would be considered.
Gender ILS Houses may be either same sex environments or co-educational environments. Students are required to maintain single sex bedrooms within the Houses. All bedrooms and bathrooms in the ILS Houses are lockable. All apartment (Lundgren House apartments)style living remain same sex environments.
ILS House Policies All rules and regulations affecting the residence halls apply to ILS Houses as well. In confirming his or her intention to reside in an ILS House, each student agrees to abide by all current rules and policies, and any, which may be added for the safety and convenience of the community, or to aid in the administration of housing.
"Students who are assigned to campus houses should be aware that violations of residential life policies may lead to loss of privileged housing (i.e., relocation to a supervised residence hall space, eviction, and/or restriction of entry) in addition to other sanctions that might be imposed by a hearing panel."
