The Logo

The “three crowns” image has been linked to Gustavus for more than fifty years. The College’s use of the logo symbolizes its Swedish heritage; it has been a familiar image in Sweden for most of the past millennium, and “three golden crowns on a blue field” is now the official small coat of arms of that nation.

The three crowns are arranged in a “V,” two on top with one centered below. The logo may be used alone with discretion as a design or decorative element, but when used with the College name must conform to the standards established for use of the “unit wordmark." Generally (to avoid loss of clarity in the crowns), the logo should not be reproduced smaller than a half inch wide in print (or smaller than 36 pixels when designing for the Web). It must be reproduced from an authorized, original camera-ready copy, an electronic file from Printing Services, or a downloadable file (below). It may not be redrawn, reproportioned, or otherwise manipulated or altered.
