Thomas Thorkelson ’70

Tom Thorkelson, who recently retired as the head coach, will return as an assistant coach in charge of the throwing events.

Thorkelson has built the Gustie men's and women's throws units into one of the strongest groups in Division III. Since coming to Gustavus in 1985, Thorkelson has coached 48 male and female All-Americans in the shot put, discus, weight throw, hammer throw, and javelin including three-time NCAA Division III Javelin Champion and 2008 Olympic Trials qualifier, Lisa Brown.
