Patricia Snapp

Music

Patricia Snapp, mezzo-soprano, has been actively involved in both traditional and contemporary opera and musical theatre. She has been featured in a wide variety of roles such as "Dame Quickly" in Verdi's Falstaff, "Miss Pinkerton" in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, and the "Mother" in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, "Maria" in Bernstein's West Side Story", "Antonia's Mother" in Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffman, "Rosalind" in Goodman's The Audition, and as "Mary" in the American premiere of The Miracle of the Nativity by Edmund Pendleton. In addition to opera and musical theatre, Dr. Snapp has made recital and concert appearances throughout much of the United States, Great Britain, and the former Soviet Union. A former member of Philip Brunelle's Ensemble Singers, she also frequently appears as a guest artist.

Before pursuing her doctorate at the University of Northern Colorado, Dr. Snapp served as an Instructor of Voice at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida. She is presently a member of The National Opera Association, The American Choral Directors Association, The Minnesota Music Educators Association, and also serves as Program Chairman for the State Board of the Minnesota National Association of Teachers of Singing. 

Dr. Snapp has taught students associated with opera, musical theatre, jazz, folk, country, rock and commercial styles of music. She is an Assistant Professor of Voice at Gustavus Adolphus College where she teaches voice, vocal pedagogy, conducts the Lucia Singers and is the Music Director for the musical theatre productions
