I grew up in Michigan but decided to go to school a little way from home in Texas. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. I did my internship at the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit and two years of postdoctoral work at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. I'm a generalist in my practice and have experience helping people with a broad range of issues. While I am flexible in the way I do therapy, I tend to use cognitive behavioral strategies integrated with principles of mindfulness. I also have training and experience in psychological, learning disability and neuropsychological assessment.
This is my 7th year at Gustavus and appreciate the caring and supportive community. I have a two year old dog named Sam. He is the sweetest, smartest, and cutest puppy ever (I am not at all biased). We spend a lot of time hiking at 7 mile creek park and the treaty site and shopping at Pet Expo (his most favorite place). In my spare time, I throw pottery and have progressed to the point where you can tell what each piece was meant to be, i.e., my bowls are actually round. I have traveled to Canada, Mexico, Germany, Paris, and Fiji and hope to travel more in the future.
