Community Service and Chaplains' Office

Kari works in the Chaplains' Office and the Community Service Center at Gustavus. The split position grew out of a desire to link the two offices in a meaningful way, so that the strengths of each could inform the work of the other.  In the Community Service Center, Kari advises the school-based volunteer programs, Hoffmann Center programming, and Pound Pals.  In the Chaplains' Office, she works with the Apprentice program, student and staff retreats, faith formation/book groups, Sacred Space, and various other programs.  Kari is a Registered Yoga teacher, trained in Reiki through level II, and practices mindfulness meditation.  She advises the campus group Queers & Allies.  She is a 1998 Gustie grad (English and psychology) who resides in St. Peter with her dog, Stella.
