Jane Lalim ’95

Academic Advising

Jane Lalim began working in the Advising Center at Gustavus Adolphus College in August of 2000 as an academic counselor.  Prior to joining the administration at Gustavus, Jane served as the Interim Director of the Learning Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Jane started her professional career as a kindergarten teacher, but after having the opportunity to supervise some student teachers, she quickly realized that working with college-age students was her calling.

At Gustavus, Jane enjoys mentoring students in a variety of programs in collaboration with Student Affairs, serving as the academic advisor to several students who are undecided about their majors, and educating students about effective study strategies.

Personally, Jane enjoys both foreign and domestic travel with her husband Tom at every available opportunity.  Jane's other hobbies include waterskiing and caring for Taffy, their yellow labrador retriever.

In addition to keeping her K-9 grade teaching licenses current, Jane has maintained her annual membership with the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) since 1998.
