Jed Friedrich

Jed Friedrich will begin his sixth season as the head men's and women's nordic skiing coach at Gustavus. The men's Nordic ski squad finished in seventh place in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA). In addition, Friedrich's team finished second at the 2008 Minnesota Collegiate Championships after winning the event in 2007.

As the women's Nordic ski coach, Friedrich was named the CCSA Women's Nordic Ski Coach of the Year in 2008 as the team finished second at the CCSA Championships. Three women's Nordic skiers qualified for the NCAA Skiing Championships for the first time in program history as the Gusties finished in 18th place.

Friedrich, a St. Cloud native and 2003 graduate of Northern Michigan University, was a two-time all-state honoree in nordic skiing at St. Cloud Apollo High School. He enrolled at Northern Michigan University in the fall of 1999 and was a member of the Central Region Championship teams in 1999, 2000 and 2001. He received All-America Scholar honors from the Nordic Ski Coaches Association in 2000. Friedrich served as an assistant at his alma mater in 2002 and accepted a teaching a coaching position at Herman-Norcross Community school in 2003. While there, he taught health and physical education and served as the assistant girls' volleyball coach, assistant boy's basketball coach and assistant track and field coach.

Jed and his wife, Jennie, live in St. Peter with their daughter, Keira.
