Josh Drinkall begins his third season as an assistant coach for the Gustie basketball program. Prior to coming to Gustavus, he worked as an assistant coach for six seasons at Winona State University. At Winona State, Drinkall helped lead the Warriors to the 2006 Divison II National Championship, a second place finish in the 2007 Division II National Tournament, a Division II record 57- game winning streak, two conference tournament championships, and two conference championships.
Drinkall earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Winona State University in 2003 and received his master's degree in educational leadership from Winona State University in 2006. A native of Rushford, Minn. and graduate of Rushford-Peterson High School, Drinkall was an all-conference selection in football, basketball, and baseball. He was team captain in baseball and basketball and earned spots on the 1997 Winona Daily News All-Area football team and the All-Area Rochester Post Bulletin football team. Drinkall played football two seasons and was a team captain at Rochester Community and Technical College. He was also a member of the Winona State football team in 2000. Coach Drinkall, who also serves as assistant director for intramurals at Gustavus, lives in St. Peter.
