Administrative leadership and Education
Outdoor activities, woodworking, gardening, and bird watching
I am a native Minnesotan, but love to travel. Trips to Israel, Namibia, South Africa, Mexico, and Japan have provided opportunities for expanding my professional and personal horizons. My family includes my wife Ginny and our adult children and our grandson Harper.
I started my professional career as a science teacher in Redwood Falls, Minnesota in the late '70s. After eleven years of middle- and high-school teaching, I pursued my Ph.D. in Science Education at the University of Nebraska. I began my higher education career as a professor at Augustana College-SD. While there I worked to develop graduate programs and outreach opportunities for area teachers. I also served as Chair of Education, Assistant Dean, and Director of Graduate Programs. In 2004 I came to Gustavus to Chair the Education Department. I now serve the institution as Associate Provost and Dean of the Faculty.
We live in rural Le Sueur County where we enjoy volunteering in our local community through our church and Habitat for Humanity. We enjoying walking, canoeing, and spending time at our lake cabin.
