B.A. Gustavus Adolphus College; Ph.D. University of Minnesota
organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, and materials science
outdoors, traveling, dog agility, pottery, and painting
I was born and raised in Appleton, WI. After graduating from high school, I attended Gustavus Adolphus College and kept busy playing viola in the orchestra, traveling over J-terms, and doing research in the chemistry department. I graduated from Gustavus with a B. A. in ACS Chemistry in 2004. I then earned my Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in December of 2008 under the supervision of Professor Marc A. Hillmyer and William B. Tolman. My doctoral dissertation involved biorenewable and biodegradable polymers made from the corn and mint plants.
Aside from chemistry, I enjoy the outdoors and traveling. I married my Gustavus sweetheart in 2006 and have a dog named Disa.
