Corey Shea enters his third season with the Gustavus football coaching staff this year as the defensive line coach. Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Shea has six years of coaching experience in NCAA Division II as well as two years of experience as a student coach at William Penn University. He completed a bachelor's degree in physical education at William Penn in 2001 and received his master's degree in athletic administration from South Dakota State University in 2003.

From 2001-02, Shea was also running backs coach at South Dakota State before moving on to Minnesota State University-Mankato where he served as wide receivers coach in 2003 and running backs coach in 2004. During his time at these two schools, Shea coached two candidates for NCAA Division II Player of the Year, Josh Ranek (SDSU) and Sean Treasure (MSU-Mankato). From 2005-06, Shea was quarterbacks coach at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

Corey, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Macauley and Mia, live in St. Peter.
