Brian Bergstrom ’02

Athletics

Brian Bergstrom enters his fourth season on the Gustavus coaching staff as the team's defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Bergstrom, a three-time all-conference linebacker for the Gusties from 1998 to 2001, returns to his alma mater after serving as the defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at Crown College for the 2005 season. Prior to that, Bergstrom, a native of Burnsville, Minn., was a graduate assistant coach working with linebackers at St. Cloud State University from 2003 until 2005.

While at Gustavus, Bergstrom was a four-year starter at middle linebacker. He graduated as the program's all-time leader in tackles with 406 stops, earning honorable mention All-America honors on the Hewlett-Packard Division III All-America team in 2000. Bergstrom excelled off the field as well, earning two First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America selections on his way to graduating in 2002.

Brian currently resides in St. Peter with his wife, Kate, and son, Krayton.
