We operate both Macintosh and IBM-based workstations and provide industry-standard software applications. Our Macintosh design software includes QuarkXpress, Microsoft Word, PageMaker, ClarisWorks, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat. The IBM design software supports Microsoft Word, Excel, and PageMaker.

Word processing programs such as Corel WordPerfect, ClarisWorks, and Microsoft Word are not suitable for film output due to the inability to generate crop marks, trapping, master page setup, and graphic compatibility. For submitting electronic files we prefer that you use page layout programs such as the ones previously listed for graphic and logo design.

We offer all phases of design, typesetting and layout:

• Design
• Logo creation
• Typesetting, including a wide variety of PostScript fonts
• Scanning, including grayscale, line art, RGB, CMYK
• 3-Crowns logo, clip-art libraries, access to stock graphics and photographs.
• Grayscale and color proofing
• Preparing copy for design/pre-press
  

Important Note: All printing jobs that will be distributed off-campus should be reviewed by the Gustavus Publications Office prior to bringing the job to Printing Services.

Provide clean, proofed, and final-edited copy in any of the following formats:

• Hard copy which we will retype or scan to a text document and format to your specifications.
• Raw text files or e-mailed text to eholz@gustavus
• Application files saved to disk-MAC or IBM; 3.5 floppy, Zip or SyQuest 44MB, 88MB or 200MB with all required fonts and original graphics files.
